I have been meeting with Recruiters to go over resume strategies ensuring alignment with recruiting needs. A common topic of discussion with Recruiters and Candidates is "THE SUBMISSION".

Here are common "kick-out" factors:Location. The client is in Chicago and you are not. Few clients want to relocate anyone in this economy.Industry. The client is not open to considering a manufacturing background for a financial need.Skill-Set. Companies are paying Recruiters to find them a perfect fit.Level. Clients pay Recruiters for a perfect fit which works both ways. They want a Manager for a Manger position-not a VP for a Manager position, and not a Manager for a VP position.Recent Experience. Clients pay for recent relevant experience.Education. This is normally a requirement that employers will pay a recruiter to include in their search.Number of jobs. If you have had more than 3 jobs in the last 4 years, or have a track record of moving often then Recruiters will take a pass.Functional resume. Recruiters will not read them. A functional resume indicates that the candidate may be trying to hide something.Mistakes. Spelling errors, poor format, errors in grammar, too long, verbose and rambling. Is any of this hindering your search?Make an appointment for a free evaluation of your resume, bio and profile.
