Job Description

The staff accountant will be responsible for preparing client invoices, accounting journals and month-end reconciliations and will report directly to the Controller. The Staff Accountant should have relevant professional experience, be entrepreneurial, poised and able to deal with junior and senior executives both inside as well as outside the firm. Flexibility, reliability as well as strong critical thinking and analytical skills are needed to be successful in this fast paced and evolving environment.

Primary responsibilities will include:

•Supporting Accounting Department including senior accountants and the Controller

•Preparing client billings for out-of-pockets expenses, retainers and closing deals including compiling invoices and communicating with senior banking staff regarding invoice questions
•Entering subsequent payments into accounting system

•Reconciling and follow-up on outstanding invoices

•Assisting with the month-end close including preparation of journals (prepaid expenses, deferred revenues, accrued expenses, and allocations), balance sheet reconciliations and expense analyses
•Assisting with the implementation of a new accounting system as required (including user acceptance testing and documentation of procedures)
•Assisting with year-end audit and budgeting process

•Other accounting duties / ad hoc projects as needed

Qualifications

Requirements:
•Associate’s degree in accounting (B.A. or B.S. in accounting is preferred)

•2+ years of relevant accounting experience

•Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup functions)

•Proficient in Microsoft Office

•Strong analytical and problem solving skills

•Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
