- Directly responsible to assure facilities are conducting their business in a sale and environmentally compliant manner including extending such protection to the neighboring communities.
- Must represent the Site Director when he is not on-site for instances which require immediate action and response by a senior site leader.
- As a member of the plant managerial staff, is responsible to the Site Director for administration, planning, coordination, and implementation of activities in the applicable Operations and Services Departments.
- Participates in formulating plant administrative practices and procedures, interfaces with the sites leaders of other functional disciplines, bargaining unit leaders, engages, develops, partners, and directs the activities of the associates assigned to the Units.
- With the assistance of their Human Resources Business Partner administers plant personnel policies, evaluates work, and makes recommendations to Site Director and Senior Leadership Team on hiring, promotions, salaries, compensation philosophies, coaching and counseling and if necessary the release of people under his/her direction.Participates in budgeting activities, reviews costs and expenses and strives for continuous improvement in the unit's operating costs.
- Manage the introduction of new products into the plant through involvement with the product commercialization team and the product evolution process.
- Oversees day to day activities in the plant and notify the Site Director and other Support Services Managers of any relevant issues that arise that fall under their responsibilities.Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed.
- Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
- Assists other employees in accomplishments of company goals. Follow instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
- Participates in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
- Participates in and completes company-required programs.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of specific experience.Experience within a Chemical Plant or Manufacturing Facility, 5+ years of operations supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
- Able to monitor the manufacturing areas 24/7 including areas that require climbing ladders and accessing scaffolding.
- Requires a broad knowledge of engineering principles governing petrochemical operations. Must have experience (10+years) in the chemical industry with extensive background in plant operations and equipment.
- Possess the ability to coordinate the activities of operations personnel in all matters necessary to run in a safe environmentally compliant reliable and efficient manner.
- Must have high technical and analytical abilities to handle operational problems and plant compliance concerns with quick diagnosis and prompt decisions. Must have the ability to motivate and influence people.
- Needs good communication and diplomacy skills with plant employees, corporate service groups, customers and general public.
