I have been asked whether references should be included on a resume. I can tell you that as a recruiter, the reference list was a great source of information to obtain names, phone numbers, and emails of hiring managers!

Do not put references on your resume. It is not necessary to put "References available upon request". This is now implied. Your references should be included in your "Documentation Package".This is the groups of documents that you bring to interviews and includes your references, multiple copies of your resume, testimonials, and any other supporting information. Do not overwhelm the interviewer with paper, hand out each item with discretion. ALWAYS alert your references when you hand out their name and contact information so they are prepared and expecting the contact. What else should be added?
