
Bank Credit Examiner - San Diego or Los Angeles

Job Description: Responsible for conducting efficient and effective internal credit examinations at multiple banking operations. Lead examinations of all types of commercial, commercial real estate, and energy loans for the purposes of identifying potential credit risk problems, minimizing loan losses, and ensuring conformity with corporate policy.Assess and finalize work products produced by assisting credit examiners to ensure quality of the credit risk process, risk grade assignments, as well as clarity, accuracy, and justification for written conclusions. Communicate conclusions to management through oral and written examination reports with meaningful conclusions and recommendations for corrective actions when necessary. Follow up to determine that approved recommendations in examination reports are instituted and complied with.Review credit files to assess borrower financial stability, cash flow, collateral accuracy, and documentation to identify any weaknesses. Complete spreads and analyze financial statements for ability to pay. Determine appropriate risk grades. Maintain knowledge of appropriate banking laws, regulations, accounting, and policies and procedures. May lead or assists lower level credit examiners as assigned. Some travel required and other duties as assigned.Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of large commercial and commercial real estate experience, including energy lending, either as a loan officer, credit examiner or regulator is strongly preferred. Portfolio management experience with a large bank is also beneficial. Experience with a regulator (commissioned) is preferred. Management experience is also preferential. Motivational, budgeting and project management experience preferred. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.Gary@GaryLouisNelson.com
