Periodically I update a previous post when the same issue continuously comes up.When I keep running into the same situation I will revise and re-post:Most of the resumes I get are either a list of tasks or a wall of words.Every once in a while a client will be unpleasantly surprised when I reduce their 3 to 4 page resume to 2 pages or even under 2 pages! They may be unpleasantly surprised when I restate what they think are accomplishments when they are really tasks."Fluff" includes over-blown, lengthy paragraphs to describe a situation an issue and a result that should be expressed in 2 lines.

When the information is actually read and re-presented so a stranger can understand and react to it the result is often surprising. If your resume is a list of tasks your resume may reflect that you may be able to do the job BUT someone else may be able to do it better! You need to tell your "stories" what was the situation, what did you do to fix or resolve and then what was the result!Your resume may be getting hits, but, are you getting interviews? How is your resume working? Are you making "human" contacts at your target companies?
